The Opening Ceremony Rehearsals

  1. I can now reveal all....

I went to the dress rehearsal of the opening ceremony last night it was fantastic. The rain didn’t dampen anyone's spirits, there was a great atmosphere in Parkhead.

I especially liked opening sequence it gave a real Scottish welcome and introduction to the Games I was minded of the opening of Lion King where all the animals assemble at the being such was the drama open the Opening - Michael Barrymore sang wonderfully . the way Violinist performed Loch Lomond was very moving. The stand ins for the Commonwealth leaders and Rod Stewart were very entertaining particularly enjoyed the introduction of the countries each lead by a named Scottie dog, the way the huge screen had some very dramatic. We didn’t see the arrival of the baton sequence guess they’re saving this for later rehearsals. The charity connection with UNCIEF was well executed. The highlight for me was the People of Glasgow sequence singing Rod Stewart's song Were the Ocean meets the Sky I’ll be Sailing the way the huge groups moved massed and de-massed was very effective.

We were told to keep the surprise so I’ll reveal all later!
